Guide to a Hot Girl Summer

As summer is fast approaching I want to share what I am doing to make this summer the best ever! First off I do want to say that this is what I am going to do and you can make your own list. I find that when I take time to think things out and write them down they are more likely going to be effective and, most importantly, more likely to actually happen. But enough talking, here is my list to make the best summer ever!

  1. Make a bucket list. Write down a list of events you want to do. Once you have that list take the time to make a plan for a time to do each activity. It may never happen if you don’t plan it as life goes fast! Call up your friends, ask your parents, and get the summer kicked off with plans

Examples: going to the zoo, taking a pottery class, and taking a road trip

  2. Start a new hobby. I love starting hobbies because they keep me busy with learning something new instead of scrolling on social media or wasting time doing something that is not as fulfilling. Use your time to grow both your mind and your world! There is so much to explore. Bring in people to do it with you like friends or family or ask a friend who is an expert to teach you!

Examples: learning to watercolor paint, taking a zumba class, walking dogs at your local animal shelter and so many you can choose from

  3. Take time to yourself. Time you put into yourself is never wasted and not only makes you better for yourself but also for those around you. If you find yourself not wanting to be alone ask yourself why and try to plan a solo day with things you love to do. I promise that by the end you will have enjoyed yourself and hopefully even learn some new things about yourself. Also once you start taking time alone it becomes something you will crave as it is so refreshing and peaceful.

  4. Drink water! I know you hear it everywhere but maybe that's a sign why you need to start making sure you get enough water. It not only is good for your body but it also can help clear your skin, give you more energy and so many more. Make it fun! Add berries, lemons or cucumbers to give it extra flavor and color.

  5. Move your body! Find an activity that gets you moving and grooving. The most fun for me is to have friends join me and make an activity out of it. I know “hot girl walk” is trending as it's a fun exercise where you put on headphones and walk to the beat of a song or to your own thoughts. It is something you can do alone or with friends. The benefits to moments/ exercise are almost endless but my favorite one is the uplifting effect it has on my mental health and my mood.

Examples: soccer, volleyball, basketball, walking, swimming, and yoga

  6. 4. Set goals for yourself. Nothing says hot girl summer like spending your time to become a better you. These goals must be realistic, “become a millionaire” isn't realistic for most people but setting a goal of reading 1 book a month is. Make it possible so that when you achieve them you can celebrate. Goals can also be achieved by making a schedule that can help you stay accountable and you can add these into your bucket list also. If you can't fit it in your schedule that's a good sign that it's not a realistic goal.

Examples: trying a new baking recipe once a week, teaching your dog 4 new tricks, or drinking a gallon of water a day

  7. Take pictures. At the end of every summer I am always disappointed that I didn’t take enough pictures! One picture speaks a thousand words and every moment captured can be priceless later. Make a night out of it by dressing up with friends and going to a park or a mall and taking pictures together. It is an amazing group activity and is so fun to look back on later. Not all pictures have to be of big moments, they just have to make you happy!

Examples: take time to capture the sunset, the summer night, your dinner and almost anything else

  8. Limit your time on social media. Nothing makes summer go by faster than scrolling on tiktok for 2 hours and not knowing the night is almost over. Not only will less time on social media make you more present in your daily life but it will also help with your mental and social health.

  9. Be intentional with your relationships. Invest in those around you while you have the extra time and have extra activities to share. Building up what you have and taking your friendships and relationships to a new level is so rewarding. Healthy relationships take time and energy to build and aren’t always what society tells us. Being intentional in your relationship is super important as it's your responsibility to protect your heart and your time.

  10. Write in a gratitude journal. A thankful heart is one that can find happiness in hard situations. Knowing and accepting what you have is a great way to live this summer to the fullest with the most rewarding mindset. Make it a group activity by including friends or family, each morning tell or text then a few things you are thankful for and they can do the same. A community of gratitude screams a hot girl summer. I like to write in the morning while I get ready for the day.

  11. Make room for spontaneous moments and freetime. The last tip I have is to make sure you give yourself space! This is a summer of fun and becoming the best you and that does not necessarily mean being busy at every moment. Be okay with a day of not doing anything and just exist in the sunshine.

With all my love I wish each and everyone of you a great summer! May God bless you everyday and may you reflect His love.
